GENERAL EMBROIDERY, DOLL

c. 1930 - 1939
Overview

This fabric toy doll from 1930s is a Semco printed pattern of a doll on calico, partially embroidered.

Post World War I, toys for children were not readily available.

Girls were taught to sew and this item was started by the donor.

The pattern of a girl is in two halves - head to waist and waist to feet with two pieces for each, front and back of doll.

The doll has had the hair back and front painted light brown and face and neck a pale pink.

The face and dress neckline are neatly embroidered.

Printed on a corner of the fabric is “DOLL SEMCO R59”.

An attached tag states: “Semco To reorder quote No T327 Use Semco threads”
