Contextual information

(a) This bedspread of Horatio Viscount Nelson was created by Christina Nink (nee Doehring).
This was a wartime tribute to her husband, Chris Nink and her son, Julius Doehring who were abroad on active service during World War 1.
The pattern was copied from a milk jug cover - this always amazed her family as to her knowledge of enlarging the work to its present size.
The bedspread was donated by Louise ("Lou") Blum, daughter of Charlotte, being the eldest child of Christina.

(b) This black and white photograph is of Christina Nink (seated on a chair), her soldier son, Julius (standing), small daughter, Ivy (sitting on floor), and granddaughter, Marie (sitting on Christina's lap).
