Mr J.S. Maley
Sir
In comparing your half yearly mill returns with our books, we find the following errors.
1865 Jun 12 Return shows 1032lbs Pollard and Mill note now says 1032lbs Bran which was right.
Apr 7 351 lbs Pollard received not shown in return.
Your mill return shows a balance of 106 bags due to you and granting that we owed you 101 at the beginning of this year, you cannot make us in debt more than 98 which we consider as correct, you will have the goodness to rectify the forementioned errors, which will show a balance in our favor as follows
332 lbs Pollard
6398 “ Bran
You have entirely forgotten to send us a return of the barley received into the mill and the deliveries to us.
We send enclosed a copy as our book shows it to be 491 lbs still due now – which I think you must acknowledge as correct.
Yours truly
Walter Scott
