1947A thick beige paper Western Australian “CERTIFICATE OF MARRIAGE” providing details of the marriage of Charles Frederick JACKMAN and Betty MILNE on 12 April 1947 at The Church of St. John the Evangelist in Albany, Western Australia. The document contains typed headings in black ink and hand-written details and signatures in blue ink. Charles was a 27-year-old 'Truck Driver' who lived in York Street, Albany, and Betty a 25-year-old “Textile Worker” who lived in Serpentine Road, Albany. The service was conducted by the Minister, Bradley Kirby, and was witnessed by Francis L. Begley and Doris Murphy. On the reverse of the certificate the couple completed the “DECLARATION BEFORE MINISTER OR DISTRICT REGISTER” acknowledging the oath that there 'is no impediment or lawful objection … to their being married' and was signed by both on 22 March 1947. The document also bears the signature of Bradley Kirby, the “Officiating Priest” of the Church of England (the Reverend W.B. Kirby). The document shows fold marks.

Charles Frederick JACKMAN was born on 9 May 1919 in Lockwood, Huddersfield, West Yorkshire, England. He travelled to Fremantle, Western Australia in 1934, arriving on 23 December via Colombo. JACKMAN enlisted in the 24th Heavy Artillery Battery, Royal Australian Artillery (militia) on 29 July 1937 at the age of eighteen (18). He spent three (3) years and ten (10) days in service at the Princess Royal Fortress, Albany, Western Australia, and qualified as a “Layer” and “Lewis Gunner” before being discharged on 7 August 1940. On 27 August 1940, JACKMAN enlisted in the 5th Veterinary Hospital as and was discharged as “Medically Unfit” on 21 January 1941. He worked locally including at the Freemasons Hotel on Stirling Terrace for three (3) months until July 1941, and the Vacuum Oil Company from 28 June 1943 until 17 January 1946. JACKMAN married Betty Milne at St John the Evangelist Church in Albany on 12 April 1947, and died on 13 July 1985. Betty died on 26 September 1995, and both are buried in Allambie Park Cemetery, Albany, Western Australia.
