DRESS: CHILDRENS, WHITE COTTON BRODERIE ANGLAISE
Small children's dress made of white or ivory coloured cotton, with decorative broderie anglaise and cutwork embroidery.
The bodice and arms are made of broderie angalise with a small floral pattern. The upper bodice and short sleeves are decorated with small broderie anglaise floral motifs and eyelet detailing. The neckline is trimmed with a small lace-trimmed collar and a central front opening secured with narrow fabric ties. There are two mother-of-pearl buttons. The sleeves feature bands of openwork insertion near the cuffs, which are finished with decorative lace edging.
The lower bodice is plain, with a horizontal seam joining the gathered skirt. The skirt features a wide embroidered flounce with small floral motifs and an elaborate scalloped hem. The lower section of the flounce is decorated with repeating elongated leaf-shaped broderie anglaise patterns and openwork detailing along the hem. The decorative border combines broderie anglaise and cutwork embroidery, with detailing resembling Richelieu-style cutwork.
