Overview

Cream hand made sleeveless camisole. Calico vest shaped camisole with floral crochet decorative pattern on and across shoulders and chest chest. At front pattern form two 'V' shapes over breast area. Has a flat boarder across the back. Crochet scalloped decoration around collar.

Historical information

Camisole hand made top, worn and made by Mrs Lillian Skeet (nee Dumsday) when she was living in Forrestdale with her family in the early 1900s. As Lillian had limited access to shops she had to order in cloth and materials to make many of her and the families clothes.

Statement of significance

This is part of a collection of home made items that represent the necessary skills needed by the people who lived in the City of Amadale since the establishment of Kelmscott in 1830 through to the 1950s when large shopping precincts, that supplied a wide variety of affordable goods, became easily accessible to local residents.
