Overview

Rectangular plaque with black front with white marbling design. Indented gold frame on front with gold lettering inside. Centre of the board has a A.K.Strikers round logo featuring a blue background with a white tee ball in the middle, gold text on a black background above and under the ball. Logo flanked by a raised laurel wreath. Under this is an gold coloured rectangle plate with engraved text.

Historical information

This plaque was presented to the City of Armadale during the 1997/98 tee ball season to acknowledge the assistance the City had provided to the Armadale Kelmscott Strikers Tee Ball Club. Council has a long history of supporting local sporting organisations by providing community facilities including ovals, change rooms, club rooms as well as advice and grants.

Statement of significance

This object is part of a collection that tells the story of the many different community sporting organisations that have and continue to exist in the City of Armadale. Sport has played an important role in bringing communities together and building identities.With the influx of new residents to the region in the late 1800s local sporting clubs began to form as people came together looking to form a community through shared sporting interests. Sporting clubs can also show how established communities begin to grow and diversify with clubs being formed by new emerging communities.
