A 1952 Claxton Shield baseball cap - New South Wales team - made of woollen fabric with a light-blue crown and a dark blue, felt-covered brim and top button. The internal head band is made of dark brown leather. It has many holes in the fabric as a result of insect damage.
The 1952 Claxton Shield was the 13th annual Claxton Shield, an Australian national baseball tournament. It was held in Perth, Western Australia. The participants were South Australia, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia. It was the year the host team Western Australia won their first Claxton Shield Championship. South Australia were the runners-up, Victoria 3rd and New South Wales 4th.

This New South Wales baseball cap from the 1952 Claxton Shield Series was donated by the family of Glen Dunstan, who was the 1952 Hon. Treasurer of the West Australian Baseball League and a past Western Australian state team player and manager.
This baseball cap represents part of the uniform of the New South Wales team that competed in the 1952 Claxton Shield Series, held in Perth, Western Australia. The Western Australian team won the Claxton Shield for the first time that year. Glen Dunstan, a past player and manager in Claxton Shield championships, was the Honorary Treasurer of the West Australian Baseball League at that time.
