PHOTOGRAPH: GALA DAY PROCESSION, HAY STREET WEST
1914Pale sepia photograph
Front: Gala Day procession along Hay Street West, 1914. Horse-drawn vehicles including a large covered trolley (charabanc) with passengers, are proceeding along the street. A crowd has gathered in the foreground. Some people are in fancy dress. Most vacant blocks are picket fenced and the buildings are neat and appear to be comparatively new. Tram lines and kerbing are seen along the road and footpaths which appear to be compacted, possibly sealed. Telephone and power lines are in place.
The photograph is taken from an elevated position.
Reverse: blank
