Carnival held in aid of the suburban Distress and Unemployment Fund. Participants included the local Fire Brigade, the Boy Scouts with their ambulance and bicycle corps, and participants in fancy dress for a football match held at the Subiaco Oval. Amongst the athletic events was a race for the councillors and officers of the Subiaco Municipality, in which non-starters were fined. The burly Town Clerk (Mr C. Luth) who won an event was seized and conveyed willy-nilly to an ambulance stretcher, whereupon the Mayor (Mr Duffell) awaited him him with his trophy "worth" "one guinea"-- a box of Beecham's Pills! In the evening the carnival continued with an open-air concert. The audience was a large one and followed the entertainment with evident enjoyment.
