PHOTOGRAPH: SIR CHARLES GAIRDNER SPEAKING AT FOUNDATION STONE CEREMONY FOR CITY HALL

The image shows Sir Charles Gairdner speaking at the foundation stone ceremony for the Subiaco City Hall in November 1956. He is standing on a timber platform with a small table in front of him on which there is a lectern with a microphone to the left. Behind him on the left can be seen scaffolding supporting a partly constructed wall, with many trees in the background. Behind Sir Charles are rows of seated people listening to his address. Written on the back of the photograph: 'Laying of Foundation Stone Ceremony City Hall 17 November 1956. Sir Charles Gairdner speaking.' The Hall was completed in 1957. Partner to P85_609 and 610.
