The image shows Sir Charles Gairdner, Governor of Western Australia, spreading cement with a trowel under the ceremonial foundation stone of the City Hall (now the Subiaco Theatre Centre). The black marble stone is suspended on a heavy metal chain on the wall. The stone names the Subiaco Councillors and J.H. Abrahams, J.P., Mayor.
The Subiaco City Hall is now known as the Subiaco Theatre Centre.
