QUARTZ STONE BROOCH
1874Oval brooch with a white chalcedony (opaque quartz) stone setting.
The outer edge is twisted gold with an inner band of finer twisted gold which meets the raised rim holding the stone.
There is slight chipping around the edge of the stone.
Associated with the Doust Family.
The brooch is believe to have been a gift from pupils to Miss Keefe on the occasion of her marriage to Mattie Doust in 1874. She was his second wife.
