Overview

Circular button with concave face and a raised horse motif. A tiny number 5 is engraved on the front.
Identified as coming from a civilian riding jacket. Shank is not there and appears to have been centre back.
Maker stamped around back edge.
Brass has split across the lower edge of button.

Historical information

The die was still available in the 1980s when the button was taken to the Police Historical Museum in Bristol, UK for identification by Jenny Allen, museum curator at the time.
