From information provided by the Australian War Memorial - "This is an Australian Second World War slouch hat puggaree with the ‘T’ shaped colour patch of a 9th Division artillery unit, in this case the 2/4th Australian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment. This unit was raised in the Middle East in January 1942, and served in Palestine, Lebanon, Syria, Egypt and later New Guinea, where it mostly defended airbases at Lae, Finschhafen, Nadzab and Dumpu. It would have been equipped with the 40mm Bofors Anti-Aircraft gun."
