The words on the pennants that the two officials are holding are "OLD BUFFERS. F. CLUB PREMIERS 1898-1899".
On the back of the postcard printed in black lettering is "POST CARD" and underneath this line are two columns with headings "CORRESPONDENCE" and "ADDRESS ONLY" and in the top right hand corner a square with the words "KODAK" at the top and bottom and the words “AUSTRAL” on the sides.
On the back of the postcard stamped in purple ink is "Wm J FORD, PHOTO ARTIST, KATANNING"
Old Buffers were thought to be Katanning's first football team. The Football Association and formal games did not start until 1901.
