Second World War ‘United States of America’ Brass Buttons as souvenired by Sapper Kingsley Charles MOHR, WX26433
1939 - 1945Five (5) large and one (1) small, gold-plated brass buttons bearing “The Great Seal of the United States”, the national Coat of Arms, in relief on the obverse of each button, with manufacturers names on the reverse The Coat of Arms consists of a bald eagle facing left with wings extended below a shield consisting of 13 stars. Arrows (symbolic of war) are held in one of the eagle’s claws, with a laurel branch (symbolising peace) held in the other and the eagle’s head is turned to the left. Each button has a shank on the reverse side.
Rex Products Corp manufactured buttons and insignia from 1902 and throughout the Second World War.

3 of the large buttons have “REX PRODUCTS CORP NEW ROCHELLE N.Y” on reverse. Another large button has “ART METAL WORKS INC – NEWARK N.J.” on reverse. The other large button is marked “UAM. CO”. The smallest button has “L.& R. METAL PROD. N.Y” on reverse.
This item was souvenired by Kingsley Charles MOHR (WX26433), who enlisted at Guildford on 9 August 1941. A Sapper in the Australian Mechanical Equipment Company he spent 1495 days on Active Service in Australia and 625 days on Overseas Service from September 1943 – August 1944 and 10 March – 6 December 1945 before being discharged at Karrakatta in Western Australia on 24 January 1946. MOHR had lived in Denmark, Western Australia, before enlisting and returned there after the war.
