WHITE WORK, CAMISOLE
A lady’s bodice undergarment from the turn of the 20th century, rarely seen in 21st C.
Neck edge is scalloped finished in buttonhole stitch. Also just below, pairs of machine buttonholes to thread ribbon to draw in neck edge. Four pin tucks centre back of bodice.
4 pearl shell buttons centre front and hand made buttonholes in buttonhole stitch concealed on right hand side..
Undergarment bodice of fine white cotton. Left and right sides on front have symmetrical floral design with a butterfly
machine embroidered. 5 pintucks at waist. Has a four pearl buttons, 3 concealed for centre front opening.
The front has machine embroidered butterflies, satin stitch flowers and pulled thread work.
5 pin tucks at waist, darts and side seams are machined.
The neck edge which is very fragile and damaged, has buttonholed scalloped edge, as do the armholes, with buttonhole carriers for drawstring. Narrow waist band with short flared frill = peplum cut on the cross
