Liam Hendriks' 2010 Perth Heat baseball team playing top No.18
Personally autographed by Liam Hendriks, his No.18 Perth Heat baseball playing top is presented in a black-painted wooden frame. The short-sleeved shirt is of white fabric with thin red piping around the edges of the sleeves and neck. The name 'Hendriks' and the number '18' are appliqued on the front of the shirt. A small black, orange and red-coloured 'alcoholthinkagain' logo is stitched onto the right-hand sleeve and a bigger version of the logo is stitched to the front of the shirt. The ABL (Australian Baseball League) logo is stitched to the neck of the shirt.
Born in 1989 and raised in Perth, Western Australia, Liam Hendriks began playing tee-ball when he was five, before transitioning to baseball at the age of ten. He played with local teams Carine Cats and Wanneroo Giants before joining the Perth Heat, a professional Australian Baseball League team.
On his eighteenth birthday in February 2007, he was signed by the Major League Baseball (MLB) team Minnesota Twins.
In 2008 Hendriks pitched for Perth Heat in their successful Australian Claxton Shield series and went 3–0 with a 1.90 ERA and 25 strikeouts, a competition high. He was named Rookie of the Year for that season. Liam was then added to the Australian national team for the 2008 Final Olympic Qualification Tournament, pitching five innings of work while only allowing one unearned run alongside two hits and a walk while striking out six. He returned for the Perth Heat in the inaugural season of the Australian Baseball League in 2010.
Besides the Minnesota Twins, Hendriks' MLB career included pitching for Kansas City Royals, Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics. In January 2021 he signed a $70 million deal with the Chicago White Sox. He has been an All-Star twice (2019 and 2021) and was the American League's Reliever of the Year in 2020 and 2021.
