Historical information

The 1969 Tri Nations Baseball Series took place in Manilla in the Philippines between November 29 and December 7. Competing nations were Australia, Japan and the Philippines. The series marked the first occasion that an Australian team had been selected to play on foreign soil. Although Australia lost to Japan, the games were close, and they defeated the Philippines to qualify for the Asian Series – another first for Australia.

Each member of the Australian team was given a commemorative medallion.
