FRAMED PANORAMIC PHOTO YANDEE HOMESTEAD
c. 1925Framed panoramic photo black & white long view of homestead on horizon with verandah & multiple chimneys, homestead is positioned left of centre.
Two figures can be seen- one at middle left standing with a dog & a second herding a flock of sheep beside the homestead.
There are a few sparse trees around the house, but for the most part the surrounding paddocks are fairly bare.
The condition of the wooden frame is poor, significant insect activity along the bottom section particularly has compromised the integrity of the wood. The image is covered with glass and the photograph itself appears to be in reasonable condition.
Yandee Homestead in Nunile in the Shire of Toodyay was built in 1912. Today the homestead has a high level of authenticity and integrity. It has historical significance due to its association with Alexander Anderson and the Clarkson family.
This photograph and the watercolour painting (Shire of Toodyay accession number 2014.7) were donated to the museum in late 2013 by Anne Crane. Anne's late husband, Gary Walter Crane, was the son of Walter George Crane who owned the property between 1946 and 1950. A clearing sale was held at Yandee after the property was sold and Walter Crane died the following year. The watercolour and the panoramic photograph of Yandee (which appears to pre-date the Crane occupation), were removed from the homestead around the time of the clearing sale in 1950.
