WWII US dexterity puzzle - Blackout
c. 1940Handheld dexterity puzzle with dark red metal sides, glass top and a faded cardboard background featuring a street with buildings either side. There are four lights lining the street and circular gaps in the cardboard base where the lamps would have been. There are also four gaps in the cardboard in windows of the buildings. There are eight metal ball bearings. A squadron of four planes is approaching the street.
The aim of the game is to juggle the ball bearings into position on the streetlights and windows, thereby putting out the lights.
The reverse of the game is natural coloured cardboard.
As with most of these vintage dexterity puzzles, they have become harder to complete due to the warping of the cardboard base.
One of a series of handheld dexterity puzzles in the collection produced in the United States during WWII.
