PHOTOGRAPH: ROKEBY ROAD NEAR HAY STREET INTERSECTION

c. 1910
Overview

The black and white photograph shows the tram rounding the corner at the Subiaco Hotel with another tram in the background centre of the photograph. The hotel's tower is cut off at the top of the photo. A horse and cart are in the left foreground and a man in a white suit is in the right foreground. Immediately above him is a draper's sign and just ahead, the store of A. Firth. A large sign down the street of a shop to the right advertises 'H. Morgan's Fruit and Vegetable Mart' as well as C. McPhee's groceries and crockery. The caption below reads: 'Subiaco W.A.' A note with the photo reads: Rokeby Road - Hay Street Corner c1910: The trams are running but the road is still unsealed. The Subiaco Hotel is open for business and there is a draper's shop on the right hand corner.' Trams commenced operating in Subiaco in 1900.
