BOOKCASE: 'WHATNOT', BANNEAR FAMILY
c. 1930Home-made 'what-not' or bookcase using tailor's wooden cotton reels as uprights. It was purchased by Mr. Thomas Melbourne, father of the donor, from a Subiaco furniture shop in 1934 and was already old then. It has five pine shelves, irregularly spaced, with 4 ordinary cotton reels surrounding the top shelf.
