POOL TESTING EQUIPMENT COMPARATOR DISC

Overview

6 circular discs, 5 black, for chlorine levels, and 1 grey for alkaline levels. They all have a central hole to fit into COA2017.60A and 9 circular windows of different shades. Three of the black discs have yellow shaded windows, one of the discs has blue to purple shaded windows, other black disk has blue to yellow shaded windows and the grey disk has yellow, green and blue shaded windows.

Each disc represents a different level of chemicals in the water, from 0.15 to 2.0 for chlorine, and 0 to 250mg/lfor alkaline. Two of the discs are in plastic cases.

Historical information

The item was acquired from the Armadale Aquatic Centre before renovations were started in 2017. The Centre was opened in December 1980.
The equipment would have been used as early as 1980 and possibly as late as 2017. Most likely used in 1990s-early to c2005. It was used as part of the maintenance of the water quality of the pools at the Aquatic Centre. Maintaining a high standard of water quality at the Aquatic Centre was a priority to ensure patrons could swim in a safe environment.

This collection of items was used at the Armadale Aquatic Centre. The Centre was opened in December 1980 and was closed in 2017 to make way for the new Armadale Fitness and Aquatic Centre which was opened in 2019. These items were collected as they represent the important role played in the social life of the local community and what was involved for a local government in running a public pool.
