WWI fundraising button supporting the 22nd Battalion A.I.F.
c. 1915Circular badge or button produced during World War One to support members of the 22nd Battalion, Australian Imperials Force.
It is made from printed paper between a tin base and celluloid cover.
It features the 22nd Battalion colour patch - a diamond with upper triangle in purple and lower triangle in red - with a central number '22' in cream. The background of the button is cream with a thin purple border. There are some age spots visible.
There is a metal pin which encircles the edge of the badge before ending in a point which can be pushed through clothing for attachment.
The maker's name is written on the purple rim in cream.
The 22nd Infantry Battalion AIF was formed on 26 March 1915 at Broadmeadows Camp in Victoria. The battalion became part of the 6th Brigade of the 2nd Division.
