Round metal ring on a flower-shaped base

Historical information

St Mary’s Anglican Church was built by the early settlers of the Vasse district. Its foundation stone was laid by Frances Bussell on 4 March 1844, and the church opened for worship on 11 April 1845.

St Mary's is thought to be the oldest stone church in Western Australia.

The church was named after St Mary's in Portsea, England where William Marchant Bussell had once been curate.
