The platter was produced by Subiaco-based ceramics manufacturer Brisbane and Wunderlich at their factory on Hay Street. It is from a line of ‘fancyware’ known as Wembley Ware, which was produced by the company from 1946 to 1961. Ceramics in this line featured ornate designs, glistening glazes and Australian themes that contrasted the plain wartime ceramics of the previous decade. The three concave shells are meant to hold vegetables and other bite-size snacks, while the dhufish mouth is meant to hold dip.
