PRINT, POLICE FORCE, NEWCASTLE 1899
1899Black and white copy of a photograph. Shows nine men; two rows of four, seated on chairs, with five standing behind them. All are dressed in a severe uniform of dark jackets with silver buttons and dark pants; except for the man standing on far left wearing jodphurs and leather riding boots. Each wears a cap with a small visor and a white or light coloured hatband. All are positioned in front of a house with a door central and windows either side.
Seated extreme right was Walter Benjamin Connolly born england 1.5.1867 left England with trade as a bricklayer, joined police force 6.6.1891, regimental no.70. Moved from newcastle to York, West Perth and finally Guildford, resigning on 16.7.1906.
