A work in ink on manilla card, a sketch of Albany's first brewery with the Albany town hall in the background. The artist is viewing the building from the West side of Collie St., approximately one block down the hill from Grey St. West.

Historical information

A poster advertising Drew Robinson & Co.'s "FIRING OUT" - "SEASONS new GOODS" is shown fixed to the Western wall of the brewery building. Another poster for POLLARDS OPERA COMPANY is fixed to the West wall of the extension. The town hall clock is reading 11 a.m., which had not been installed until 1903, supports a date for the work to c1904.

This commercial artwork is part of a series of pictorial postcard proofs produced in 1904 by the Batelier Brothers Albany, which they called "ramble round Albany", featuring well-known Albany landmarks.
