Beige coloured strip of leather, fringed at top and bottom. Carved into the leather is text and in the middle a image of a black swan with an orange beak swimming amongst some bull rushes.

This bookmark was used in Armadale to celebrate the centenary of WA in 1929.
This bookmark belonged to Arthur George Berry (born 1923), the brother of John Berry who previously donated a similar bookmark AK 1999-48.

A souvenir produced to celebrate the centenary of the establishment of the Swan River Colony in 1829. The bookmark was owned and used by Arthur George Berry who was 6 in 1929. His brother John also had an identical bookmark.
The bookmark tells the story of celebration of the Swan River Colony and represents the type of material produced to commemorate the event and either given to local WA children or sold.
