PASS KEY

Overview

Small, heavily corroded, metal key. Key for mortice lock with a thin, kidney shaped, metal hand grip at one end. The shank of the key tapers slightly where it joins the grip. Two flag levers at other end are damaged. The whole surface of the key is heavily corroded.

The majority of the keys in the Fremantle Prison Collection where left on site when the Prison closed in 1991. Most are unable to be accurately dated since very few carry any maker’s marks, though it is believed they represent the whole of the Prison’s occupation.
