SEWING BOX
1870Octagonal wooden box with hinged lid which is lockable.The top of the lid has eight separate panels inlaid with a lighter coloured wood to form a concentric pattern.
This item was made by unknown convict in Fremantle Prison, as is was near completion. Used WA local wood, interesting piece of convict art. Given to Lydia Simmonds as a present in 1854.
This item is known to have been used by Elizabeth Frazer & her mother Lydia Lockyer.
