King George V and Queen Mary Silver Jubilee Medal
1935A circular medal which features the left profile of a King in the foreground and in the background is a Queen, it has a ribbon with a crimson centre band surrounded by blue and white stripes on the edges, it is attached to a badge. Both persons are in royal regalia. The ribbon is joined to the medal by a ring. On the reverse side of the medal at the top is embossed a crown.
The medal is the King George V and Queen Mary Silver Jubilee medal. The medal was struck to mark the occasion of the Silver Jubilee of King George V's reign in 1935. It was issued to members of the Royal Household, Officers' of State, Government Officials, Civil Servants and Members of the Armed Forces on duty. The Hon. Alex Thomson as an M.L.C was issued with such a medal. This medal was originally donated to the museum in 1949 accompanied with another probably a coronation medal 1910 George V. The latter is missing (1/5/85)

Around the front edge embossed is "GEORGE V AND QUEEN MARY MAY VI MCMXXXI".
On reverse side of the medal below the crown embossed is "MAY6 1910", initials "GRJ" and then "MAY6 1935".
Engraved on the rim of the medal is "ALEX THOMSON M.L.C."
