BELLOWS: FIRE BELLOWS, WRIGHT FAMILY
c. 1920The wooden sides of the bellows are in the shape of a pear with the metal funnel attached at the tip. One of the sides has a hole drilled through the centre. The leather strip which connects the wooden sides to form an air chamber, are kept in shape by a bent piece of cane and are attached to the sides by means of nails. A wad of newspaper has been pushed into the hole where the funnel and side meet, presumably to stop a leak. Used by the donor's parents at 37 Olive Street, Subiaco. Kitchen bellows were commonly used to fan fires in wood stoves, etc.
The bellows were used by the donor's parents who lived at 37 Olive Street, Subiaco from 1911.
