MUSICAL INSTRUMENT: SUBIACO MUNICIPAL BAND DRUMSTICK

Overview

Head of drumstick is round and buff coloured. The stick is slim, painted black and the end where it is held is turned and ends in a round knob. Used by a drummer in Subiaco Municipal Band.

The Subiaco Brass Band contributed live music in the main street each Friday night (1920)

Sunday afternoons in the Municipal Gardens: ‘Band concerts in the rotunda became as much a part of living in Subiaco as was catching a tram to ‘Subiaco Beach’ or defending the reputation of the district’s footballers.

The band would play for hours and hours on Sunday afternoons (Walter Sefton oral history)
