Historical information

In 1907 William Maidment bought 640 acres from Ted Lang of what had once been WJ Roberts "old Capel Farm" and renamed this property "Paringa" . Paringa had a weatherboard house with a cellar, fruit trees, a dairy herd and a small flock of sheep. Maidment bred horses for mounts for the Indian army.

J. & G. Meakin was an English pottery manufacturing company founded in 1851 and based in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. In the 19th century, J. & G. Meakin was known for the vast quantities of cheap ironstone china it produced for the domestic English market and for export to Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the United States.

The J&G Meakin "SOL" trademark was registered in 1912 and has many variations.
