Souvenir Card Tray
1965A heavy metallic card tray with the appearance of silver commemorating the H.M. Bark Endeavour replica foundation. The topside of the plate also includes an oval design with the lettering " The Endeavour Replica" around a sketch of the ship. The plate is stored in a blue cardboard box that has the same design and lettering as the plate. The box is lined with a light blue material.
This piece appears to be hand made by a local W.A. Artisan for the H.M. Endeavour Foundation celebrating the Endeavour Replica which was started in 1988 and launched 1993. The initial funding for the endeavour was supplied by Alan Bond Corporation, but the H.M. Endeavour Foundation was set up as a charitable trust in 1991 when the Bond Corporation was unable to continue funding. The personalised engraving on the bottom indicates that this was the 11th item in a set of 65 and may have been recycled/repurposed from something else.
