China Honey Jar
c. 1929Chinoiserie patterned porcelain honey jar with with brass rim and handle (previously silver plated). The pattern is Ridgeway 5619 also known as known as the Chinese Japan pattern. The pattern depicts Japanese style buildings and bridges with swirls, flowers and leaves. The colours are cobol blue, dark red, orange and light blue.
It has a brass lid with decorative knob which was previously silver plated and a silver plated spoon with a flower stem decorated handle.
The Ridgway family was one of the important dynasties manufacturing Staffordshire pottery, with a large number of family members and business names, over a period from the 1790s to the late 20th century. In their heyday in the mid-19th century there were several different potteries run by different branches of the family. Most of their produce was high quality earthenware but stoneware and bone china were also made.

The jar collar shows an EPNS mark.
Lid has an EPNS mark on the inside.
The spoon has EPNS mark on the underside.
The object is an example of kitchenware used in domestic life in Busselton in early 20th century and was donated by Mrs E Harries, whose family have a long association with the Busselton area.
