BIRTHDAY CARD
c. 1883Handmade card made from black silk on cardboard with a white stick-on label. The stick-on label has a coloured embossed floral design on the edges. The silk has embossed floral designs in blue and beige thread on the corners and bottom centre and silk frayed fringing on the edges. The greeting on the card says "Accept this souvenir of your birthday with my wishes".
In 1907 William Maidment bought 640 acres from ted Lang of what had once been WJ Roberts "Old Capel Farm" and renamed his property "Paringa". "Paringa" had a weatherboard house with a cellar, fruit trees, a dairy herd and a small flock of sheep. From here Maidment bred horses for the Indian army.

This card was part of a donation from R Maidment. There are no details as to who "Aunty" and "Horace" are.
