TANK WASHER CUTTER
1926 - 1938Rectangular bar cross piece, a larger square proturbence with a vertical rectangular slot to accommodate the cutter blade which is depth adjusted and locked by a thumb screw.
The centre part is square with a rectangular slot to fit over and move along the cross bar. This is positioned by a thumb screw. Below the slot is a point around which the cutters are rotated while above the slot is a square tapered shank to fit into a brace's chuck. The second cutter is positioned at the opposite end and has slot to fit over the bar and a similar thumb screw for location, additionally it has a bent horse shoe nail through the slot.
Tools used by Charles Duncan in his Blacksmith and Wheelright shop. The shop was called Duncan & McNamee and was located on the corner of Jull Street and Third Road, Armadale. It was open from 1926-1938.
In 1889 Birmingham manufacturing firms William & Cornelius Wynn & Richard Timmins, both trading from about 1825, formed Wynn & Timmins and traded until 1969.
