Charles Fox Roberts, Hannah Roberts and family
Black and white image of the Roberts family and in-laws, captured in a classic family portrait style in a rural setting.
Charles Fox Roberts was among the first generation of Western Australians born in the new colony, in 1844. His father William Jenkin Roberts took up the lease on 'North Capel Farm' the year before, and Charles would grow up to take over the family farm when his older siblings had moved on. Hannah was an orphan who left England on a 'bride ship' in 1859, and married Charles in 1864. Later the Roberts family purchased and moved to 'Stratham Park' around 1886. Charles was a hard working farmer and award-winning horse breeder, with significant land holdings around the district.
Also pictured are most of the Roberts' children, including Emily, Capel, Grace, Ilma, William and Herbert with spouses.
