Historical information

The Hurst family of Abraham and Ann and their seven children come to Western Australia in 1842. In the 1860s, son Thomas moved to a site on the Preston River which he called 'Riverbend'. Soon after, Pensioner Guard William Ecclestone leased a property across the river, and Thomas Hurst married William's daughter Elizabeth.
The Payne family of George, Julia, her son Fred Hawkins and George jr arrived in 1841. Five decades later, the twin sons of George jr, Arnott and Raymond married Sarah and May Hurst respectively.
