The 1965 Australian national schoolboy baseball championships were held in Sydney, commencing on August 30. The Western Australian team of 15 schoolboys and three senior officials had arrived in Canberra on August 23 where they played two games at O'Connor Oval against ACT schoolboys on the 24th and 25th, before continuing on to Sydney. The image on page 3 of the itinerary was reproduced from a photograph in the 'Canberra Times' dated Tuesday, 24 August 1965. The caption which accompanied the photograph read: 'The coach of the Western Australian under 16 baseball team, Mr Max Herson, gives two members of the team, pitcher David Meloncelli, left, and outfielder Gary Cox, some useful hints on batting at the Police Boys Club yesterday.' The itinerary indicates the Championship opening ceremony was held on August 30 at Petersham Oval, Sydney, where games were subsequently played from August 31 to September 3.
