Silver Chain Flower Day 1950
1. CWA Floral Carpet. The event was organised by the Silver Chain and held on National Flower Day. It was the first effort by CWA to participate in the day and it was organised by the International Officer Mrs Rona Dempster. The CWA display was outside the Wesley Church in Hay Street and was 12 feet by 15 feet in size. The display was in pastel flowers of blue, pink and mauve and the leaves were silver. The CWA logo on the centre was 6 feet in diameter and there was a CWA in each corner of the display.
Information from October Countrywoman 1950.The first National Flower Day was held on the 16th September in WA and the idea to decorate the city of Perth, was inspired
by a charitable aim, and the Silver Chain District and Bush Nursing Association benefited from the money collected.
