Golden Swan Award 1980.

Mrs Rona Hayward put together a submission for the Golden Swan Award in 1979, but the award that year went to the Silver Chain Association. In 1980 the Association again presented a submission and was presented with the award.

This is from a report by Past State President Pat Smeeton published in the July 1980 Countrywoman.

This Award, given by Ringcraft Jewellers, is fashioned in three types of gold in the shape of the symbol used in our 150th year celebrations. It was presented by His
Excellency the Lieut. Governor and Administrator. Sir Francis Burt (his mother was State President 1934-37, 1938-39) to the Immediate Past President, who represented every member of CWA from the State President Mrs Hooper to the very newest member. The accompanying certificate reads in part to honour outstanding work or service performed by an organisation of any kind.' This certificate commemorates the presentation of the Gold Swan Award to the Country Women's
Association of W.A. whose 55 years of caring and concern for the community was declared by the independent adjudicators. to be a most meritorious achievement'.

We keep the certificate but have to hand the 'Swan' back in 12 months time.
