When the broad gauge railway line to Kalgoorlie was built, it bypassed Baandee by several miles. The small siding became the victim of progress and gradually died. The branch membership dwindled to seven and in 1968 the branch disbanded and the door of the Rest Room was closed.
For four years the Association paid the rates and other accounts. In 1972 Mrs Joan Crook was asked to ascertain whether the cement brick building could be moved and at what cost. The advised that it would be far too costly, even if a builder could be found to do the job.
A full story of the removal of the historic Baandee Rest Room is on Page 44 of Her Name is Woman.
