Overview

Round wooden bowl with circular opening at the top that forms a cylindrical chamber in the pipe stummel. At the base of the bowl emerging at a right angle is a cylindrical shaft called the shank.The bowl and shank are all carved out of a single piece of wood.

Historical information

One of the items collected by Kim Fletcher from 15 William Street Armadale, the home of Archelaus Row who lived there for over 40 years. Kim was a neighbour.

The pipe was used by Archelaus Row who lived at 15 William Street, Armadale in the mid 1900s.
The pipe represents a time when smoking was common, even popular, before the dangers of smoking were widely known in the community its popularity diminished. The pipe would have been an item Archelaus would have carried with him as well as had around the house so he could indulge it when needed.
