Heavy round memorial plaque cast in bronze. Medallion features a lion, two dolphins, Lady Britannia and an eagle being devoured by a lion. Inscription around outside edge of plaque and soldiers name engraved on right side.

Issued to families of soldiers who died for the British Empire during the First World War the memorial plaques or as they were commonly known, ‘Death Pennies’ showed no rank or unit depicting the equality of the sacrifice made by all who lost their lives

A competition was held to create the design of the plaque and the winner was a Mr. E. Carter Preston. They were then manufactured at the Medallion Plaque Factory in London.
