The photograph was taken in the backyard of 16 Rupert Street. This property was purchased and the house built approximately 1900 by the donor's father who was a printer in Subiaco. According to the donor, the land and house cost 90 pounds. L.E. MacKenzie was the youngest of six children brought up there. All six children attended Subiaco School. 'Grandfather MacKenzie' is written in ink across the front near top border.
